Yoga according to B.K.S. Iyengar

The Iyengar Yoga Switzerland Association (IYS) promotes Iyengar Yoga throughout Switzerland and ensures the quality of teaching between Lake Constance and Lake Geneva. IYS takes care of the training, further education and certification of teachers and regularly organizes conventions with renowned teachers from Germany and abroad. The association is thus continuing a tradition that began in the 1950s: The great violinist Yehudi Menuhin attended the yoga classes of B.K.S. Iyengar in India at the time and invited the master several times to his chalet in Gstaad so that B.K.S. Iyengar could teach and give lectures in the Bernese Oberland.

THE ASSOCIATION

IYS was founded in 1999 by Wilfrid Schichl and others. The association is responsible for the training and certification of Swiss Iyengar yoga teachers.

About Gabriella Giubilaro

Gabriella began her yoga practice in 1973 in Florence, Italy. After earning a PhD in Physics, she decided to dedicate her life to the practice and teaching of Yoga in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar. Since 1983, she has studied annually with the Iyengar family in Pune, India. She holds a Junior Advanced certification in the Iyengar method and has been teaching since 1987 in her own studio in Florence, as well as at workshops throughout Europe and the United States. Gabriella Giubilaro is widely known for her dynamic teaching style, her sense of humour, her sensitivity to individual needs, and the clarity of her instructions.
