
Training Iyengar Yoga Teacher
The training to become an Iyengar yoga teacher takes around 3 years and is recognized worldwide. To be accepted into the mentoring program, you must have been practicing Iyengar yoga regularly for at least three years.
Become an Iyengar Yoga Teacher
The certificate training “Iyengar Yoga Teacher” focuses on personal practice. During the three-year training, personal practice is sharpened and deepened. You will learn how to teach the asanas and how to correct them adequately if the exercises are not performed correctly.
Another key topic is the correct use of aids and the adapted practice for physical limitations and other problems. In the theoretical part of the training, you will deal intensively with the anatomy of the human body and yoga philosophy. To be accepted into the mentoring program, you must have been practicing Iyengar yoga for at least three years.

Exam
At the end of the training, you can register for the “Iyengar Yoga Teacher” Level 1 exam. If you pass the exam, you will be certified as an Iyengar Yoga teacher worldwide. You can also use the term “Iyengar” for your yoga classes. For you to continue using the brand, you must renew your certification every year. To do this, you must prove that you regularly attend and teach Iyengar yoga classes and take part in further training.

My passion for Iyengar Yoga began in the late 1990s. Since 2002, I have been studying and teaching at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, formerly with Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar and his daughter Geetaji, and currently with Prashantji. With over 25 years of teaching experience – including 15 years at RIMYI – I have taught thousands of students, of all ages and of all levels, in more than 20 countries, in workshops, live classes and online courses.
